In 2022, the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness celebrated a decade of CSO solidarity on Effective Development Cooperation (EDC) advocacy and practice.
CPDE was founded in 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya, by 50 civil society leaders and representatives from around the world. The new platform, which resulted from the merging of BetterAid and Open Forum, aimed to unite civil society organisations (CSOs) on EDC, as expressed in four principles: ownership of development priorities by developing countries, a focus on results, inclusive development partnerships, and transparency and accountability.
Twelve years since, we take pride in continuing to pursue our work at national, regional, and global levels, and even in the face of various challenges. These include the context of a post-Covid recovery, the economic crises, climate change, wars and conflicts, and the persisting trend of shrinking civic space and political repression.
Through this report, we proudly share our key achievements, in the areas of policy advocacy, including alliance building, as well as capacity development, and organisational management and platform coordination. These were made possible by the commitment of our members, and the support of partners and allies, who stand with us in our pursuit of a just, sustainable, and people-centered development.
