Report to the Public

In 2022, the CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness celebrated a decade of CSO solidarity on Effective Development Cooperation (EDC) advocacy and practice.

CPDE was founded in 2012 in Nairobi, Kenya, by 50 civil society leaders and representatives from around the world. The new platform, which resulted from the merging of BetterAid and Open Forum, aimed to unite civil society organisations (CSOs) on EDC, as expressed in four principles: ownership of development priorities by developing countries, a focus on results, inclusive development partnerships, and transparency and accountability.

Twelve years since, we take pride in continuing to pursue our work at national, regional, and global levels, and even in the face of various challenges. These include the context of a post-Covid recovery, the economic crises, climate change, wars and conflicts, and the persisting trend of shrinking civic space and political repression.
