Global civil society platform CSO Partnership for Development Effectiveness (CPDE), led by its co-chair and ActionAid Italia deputy secretary-general Luca de Fraia, is set to join the side event of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC), among other engagements, at the 2023 UN Financing for Development (FfD) Forum, to be held 19 April 2023 8 to 9:30AM at the Conference Room 7 of the General Assembly Building, United Nations Headquarters, New York.

Titled ‘A New Way of Monitoring Development Co-operation: Towards Multi-Stakeholder Dialogue and Action’, the activity is set to present the perspectives of the Global Partnership on principle-based, evidence-led, development efforts to achieve the 2030 Agenda. The GPEDC upholds the following four principles of effective development co-operation: (i) ownership by
developing countries; (ii) a focus on results; (iii) inclusive development partnerships; and (iv) mutual accountability and transparency.

Luca de Fraia, one of the speakers, will also bring in CPDE positions around the new monitoring framework, emphasising actionability, and advocating for a better position for stakeholders and CSOs to hold their governments accountable.

Moreover, the CPDE delegation at the UN FFD will be referring to the report of its ICSO sector on the Integrated National Financing Frameworks. In the said document, the sector urges the resolution of the following concerns:

• changing the discourse on the role of INFFs in Financing for Development
• a central role for representative civil society organisations and peoples’ movements
• enabling free choices on whether and how to implement INFFs
• rebalancing INFF policy options away from risky reforms.
