OPEN CALL FOR NOMINATIONS FOR THE CIVIL SOCIETY CANDIDATE FOR THE NON-EXECUTIVE CO-CHAIR OF THE GPEDC

CN

Dear CPDE members and colleagues from the CSO community,

In response to request of other non-executives representatives of the Global Partnership for Effective Development Cooperation (GPEDC), CPDE is selecting and issuing an open call for nominations for the Non-Executive Co-Chair (NECC) as the incumbent, Vitalice Meja steps down in June.  Nominations should be submitted to rpinauin@iboninternational.org on or before Friday, 31 May 2024.

The NECC is expected to foster democratic ownership by ensuring the decision-making process of the partnership is inclusive and transparent at its highest level as indicated in its official Terms of Reference. This recognises the unique quality of the global partnership where there are strong non-executive players representing large constituencies.

Criteria for nominees:

The Non-Executive Co-Chair role should be nominated at the highest possible level on par with the government Co-Chairs. This senior representative will normally be at the level of an Executive Director, President, or Secretary-General of one of the non-executive entities represented on the Steering Committee.

In addition, the candidates should:

  • Be knowledgeable of the key issues involved in promoting Development Effectiveness and Effective Development Cooperation
  • Have a record of involvement in CPDE/Open Forum/Better Aid or related CSO work over a period of time
  • Have proven high level leadership experience in the CSO sector or similar
  • Have an understanding of political and technical considerations relevant to the work of the GPEDC by other non-executive constituencies
  • Have demonstrable political and diplomatic skills required to work with the other non-executive constituencies and facilitate their interests and concerns in the internal debates of the Steering Committee.

Nominations should include:

  1. A statement from the CPDE constituency or nominating organisation setting out the merits of the candidate for this senior role
  2. A personal statement by the candidate of their interest in the post
  3. Recommendation of her/his own organisation, stating that the candidate will have the time to devote to the task (can be integrated into first requirement if nominating organisation is the nominee’s own)
  4. Further endorsements from other independent sources who know the candidate well, if possible.

A more detailed document can be downloaded here.  The Selection is expected to be concluded by 11 June, 2024. Please share this Open Call widely among your networks and contacts.
