EDC is about four principles and past development effectiveness commitments , CPDE says in UN session

EIA

Stephen Tan, Policy Officer of the Global Secretariat, spoke at the session on Global Partnership Initiatives (GPI) contribution to the SDGs at the Global Festival of Action on how CPDE’s GPIs work at country level and to exchange best practices on effective development co-operation (EDC). The session was held in Bonn, Germany last 22nd of March 2018.

Tan shared CPDE’s three-year program,  Sustaining Civil Society Advocacy on Effective Development Cooperation, the nature of the Global Partnership for Development Effectiveness (GPEDC), and the value of multi-stakeholder partnerships in this 2030 to an audience of development workers, students, and other professionals. Tan expounded from the usual narrative that EDC is simply about ascribing to the four development effectiveness principles to a definition that includes taking stock of the commitments since the Paris Declaration on Aid Effectiveness, as well as CPDE’s five advocacy priorities.

The Festival of Action remains an important avenue in our universal application of EDC advocacy. For CPDE, the significance of engaging organisations and platforms that work on the SDGs outside GPEDC will be beneficial in communicating its messages to a wider public and contributions to the 2030 Agenda.

Organised by the UN SDG Action Campaign with the support of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development and the German Federal Foreign Office, the Festival brings together the global community taking action to make the Sustainable Development Goals a reality. Taking place in Bonn each year, the Global Festival of Action for Sustainable Development provides a dynamic and interactive space to showcase the latest innovations, tools and approaches to SDG implementation and connect organizations and individuals from different sectors and regions to exchange, build partnerships, and make the impact of their solutions scale.
